From One Developer to a Full Team

Visena had ambitions to grow and needed more development power than the Norwegian market could offer — both in terms of the right competence and at the right price. They found the solution in an ad from Cefalo. After some reference checks and a solid first impression, they took a chance — and cautiously started with one developer in Dhaka.

Visena has developed a cloud-based all-in-one platform for service providers — a system that brings together CRM, time tracking, document management, and financial control in one efficient workspace.

We were looking for developers in Norway, but it was challenging. Not just because of the cost. We are a small company and don’t have a big professional environment to offer, says CEO Thomas Andresen.

Hard to Find the Right Skills in Norway

Visena reached out to Cefalo in 2021 when they were considering external development as an option. Their original plan was to hire locally, and they weren’t sure outsourcing was the right move for a small company like theirs.

– But it turned out to be challenging for a small business to hire the right competence at an affordable price here in Norway. We don’t have a large developer environment to offer, explains CTO Andreas J. Krogh.

When choosing a provider, it was important for Visena to work with a company where employees are treated well, paid fairly, and offered good conditions. According to Visena’s CEO, Cefalo scored high on all counts.

– After conversations with Cefalo and a few reference checks, it quickly became clear that Cefalo had strong insight into the market in Bangladesh — and a model that worked. That’s what made us decide to give the collaboration a try, he adds.

Low Risk and Strong Support

Cefalo’s model provided a sense of security during an uncertain phase. Visena didn’t have to spend time or money on recruitment, and they didn’t need to take on employer responsibilities. Screening and candidate selection was handled by Cefalo, and the first developer was quickly up and running.

– Visena doesn’t have any HR responsibilities for our team in Dhaka, even though they feel like our own employees. Cefalo takes care of that. It gives us confidence and a sense of low risk, says CEO Thomas Andresen, who quickly adds:

The first developer worked out so well that Visena now has a team of four developers working for them from Dhaka.

– They’re self-driven, skilled, and take responsibility. Whenever adjustments have been needed, Cefalo has handled it smoothly — always with respect for everyone involved.

Short Time-to-Market

A key milestone came when Visena’s team in Dhaka began taking responsibility for onboarding new colleagues — saving time and making everyday life easier for the team in Norway.

– The last person we hired was productive after just one week. That wouldn’t have happened a year ago. We can see that the competence and independence in the team is higher now, says CTO Andreas J. Krogh.

Today, Visena experiences better flow in development work and faster deliveries — without compromising on quality.

The People Make the Difference

For Visena, the partnership with Cefalo is just as much about people as it is about technology.

The team in Dhaka has become part of the organization — and trips, exchanges, and social contact have strengthened the relationship. At least once a year, they conduct a team exchange to build stronger bonds between the company in Norway and the team in Dhaka.

– Some of us are heading to Dhaka at the end of May, together with representatives from Cefalo. We’ll spend time socializing and working on knowledge sharing in both directions. These trips are really valuable and we see the positive effects, points out Andreas J. Krogh.

– There are people involved at every level. And Cefalo has shown that they take both us and their developers seriously. We feel well followed up — even though we “only” have four developers. That means a lot to us, concludes Andresen.
