TEN YEARS WITH THE SAME CLIENT: Sumoy Barua has worked more than ten years with the same client in his career at Cefalo.
In the People Behind the Code series, we highlight those who build Cefalo from within. This time, we meet Sumoy Barua – an experienced Senior Technical Architect who has been part of the Cefalo family for over a decade. Through his work, he shows how continuity, competence, and collaboration can shape both people and technology.
Sumoy Barua first joined Cefalo Bangladesh back in January 2012, when the company was still small but rapidly growing. Since then, he has been a steady force in the organization, working with the same client for most of his impressive 13-year journey with us. That’s something to be proud of!
Ten years of growth, with the same client
– What motivates me most is the vibrant and supportive work culture we have here. It's inspiring to work alongside experienced colleagues in an environment that values learning, development, and collaboration, says Sumoy Barua.
He highlights Cefalo’s focus on competitive conditions and modern workspaces as key motivational factors, and among the reasons he has chosen to stay at Cefalo for so long.
– I feel seen, heard, and respected. It gives me a strong sense of belonging, he adds.

AT CEFALO SINCE 2012: – Choosing a long-term career at Cefalo is an easy decision, says Sumoy Barua.
– Easy to commit to a long-term career here
When Sumoy Barua chose Cefalo in 2012, it was the vision of Cefalo and its strong reputation in both Dhaka and Norway that attracted him. A decision he has never regretted.
– I felt confident that Cefalo would offer a stable and developing career path, he explains.
And he was right. Over the years, he has witnessed how Cefalo has navigated industry challenges with a clear approach, focused on the future.
– The leadership's proactive attitude has made it easy to invest in a long-term career here, says Sumoy.
A part of the team – from anywhere
After more than a decade of working with Norwegian clients, Sumoy knows the Norwegian work culture well. He especially values the respectful and inclusive way they collaborate, both internally and externally.
For Sumoy, it’s about more than just delivering projects. It's about being treated as a true part of the team, regardless of geography.
Building strong relationships across time zones and cultures, he believes, is a clear strength for Cefalo, for the clients, and himself.
– We maintain an open and clear communication, which creates a safe and effective workflow. The exchange of knowledge and experience across borders has been crucial to my personal development, says Sumoy Barua.

Technological milestones and lifelong memories
Sumoy has been involved in several major projects for his client, projects that have left a lasting mark.
He particularly highlights two key moments in his career so far:
The launch of Lantern in 2018 – a custom CMS developed by Cefalo for DN.no, replacing the established Escenic system. And the relaunch of DN.no in 2023, where Sumoy, as team lead, helped develop and launch a completely new front page and article pages, receiving high praise from the client's top management.
Being trusted to lead the team through such major changes – and seeing the results received so well – gives an incredible sense of pride.
The future is shaped by community
Sumoy sees great opportunities for further growth, both for himself and for Cefalo.
– I look forward to contributing even more in the future. Both as a mentor for younger colleagues and as part of Cefalo’s continued development, he says.
For him, success in a global team comes down to a few fundamental values:
– Openness, trust, knowledge sharing, and respect. When those values are the foundation, you can achieve great things together, no matter where you work from.
